Our Heritage

Huntington Trinity United Methodist Church has been in Huntington since 1846 with three different buildings and some different locations.  The first building was located on Park Drive at Poplar.  There were two churches (Huntington and Andrews) belonging to the circuit.  A circuit is a grouping of 2 or more Societies, under a Superintendent Minister and with other Ministers according to the number of members. Circuits are usually named after town or village of the society that is the "Head of Circuit", or after the general area.

In 1866 the second building was located on the north side of public square on Franklin Street.

In 1889 the third building was constructed at the current location at Market and Guiford Streets.  There have been three different buildings at this location.

In 1914 a fourth building was constructed as the congregation needed more space for worship and small groups.  In 1915 there was a fire that destroyed much of the interior so the building was rebuild.  The second rebuilt church opened for services in 1916.  There have been additions added to the north & west sides of the church.
